About AChE

The Association was founded as a professional organization of chemical engineers and technologists from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Soon afterward, professional associations from the Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro also joined the Association.

The Association of Chemical Engineers of Serbia was one of the founding members of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE).

The Association changed its name from the Association of Chemical Engineers and Technologists of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to the Association of Chemists and Technologists of Yugoslavia. It operated under this name until 2003, when it adopted a new name.

The journal was first published in 1947 as a supplement to the Industrial bilten. Until 1970, it was issued as a supplement to the journal Tehnika, and since 1970 it has been published as an independent scientific journal.

In addition to original scientific papers, review articles, and research publications, the journal also covers business news, developments in technology, information on new equipment and instruments, and articles on environmental protection.

The Association of Chemical Engineers and Technologists of Yugoslavia, founded as a professional organization whose primary mission was the advancement of chemical engineering, chemical technology, and the technological aspects of chemical processes, changed its name to the Association of Chemical Engineers.

The first issue of the journal Chemical Industry & Chemical Engineering Quarterly (CICEQ) was published under this title in 2005.

At the General Assembly held in June 2009, the Association officially adopted its current name, Association of Chemical Engineers of Serbia, which it continues to use today.

In December 2011, the Association expanded its activities by establishing a regional branch in Leskovac.

In October 2024, the Association of Chemical Engineers of Serbia became a member of the European Young Engineers (EYE) organization. This membership marked an important step toward strengthening international cooperation and creating new opportunities for the professional development of young chemical engineers.

In 2025, the Association of Chemical Engineers of Serbia became a member of the Early Career Chemical Engineers section within the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE). Membership in this section provides young engineers with opportunities for professional development, international collaboration, and support in advancing and promoting the next generation of chemical engineers in Serbia.
